Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

CorelDRAW! Files Not Supported

Due to complications with font inconsistencies, we must ask that all files created with CorelDRAW! are exported as Encapsulated Postscript Files (*.eps). Doing so will not only convert the information in your CorelDRAW! file to a more easily translatable format, but will also Convert the Text to Curves. This removes the possibility for font inconsistencies by including the screen and printer font information in the file itself. This makes the document font-independent and more versatile to work with.

Exporting your CorelDRAW! file as an EPS can help our Electronic Art Technicians save time, thus ensuring the fastest turnaround possible for your order.

Protect Yourself from Viruses

In the world of Virology, a loose definition of a virus is a simple microorganism capable of growth, multiplication, and infection. Computer viruses are actually very similar to their real-world counterparts. These viruses are small computer programs that duplicate and distribute themselves between computers via infected boot-sectors and files.

The effect of computer viruses range from harmless pranks to data destruction. In any case, computer viruses tend to slow down the performance of infected machines. They are spread through the use of infected files either on disk or transmitted electronically. Once the infected file is received and opened, the virus begins the infection from the file to the host computer. Once the infection begins, abnormal and/or destructive behavior will usually follow.

To protect your system from infection, the use of virus-protection software is necessary. Both Datawatch and Symantec offer excellent software packages to protect your system from virus infection. Good virus protection programs contain a list of code from known viruses. When scanning the source code of the files in your system, anti-virus programs compare what they are scanning with their list of virus code. If it detects a match in the code, it will tell you that you have a virus. Many anti-virus programs also have the capability to inoculate these known viruses.

Obtaining anti-virus software is the first step toward virus protection. However, because new viruses are constantly being created and discovered, it is necessary to update your software. A good rule of thumb is to update your software every six months. In this time, new viruses have been discovered and their "cure" has been incorporated into newer software.
